Movie Theory: Characters

Every movie has locations, dialoges, actions, etc. But, for it to be a success it needs one thing: Characters. Characters are the representation of a person or animal in a motion picture that performs and does all the dialoges, actions and everything that we see in a movie. Without a character, there would be no sense in watching a motion picture, because the audience wouldn't be able to relate with what the film is trying to say. It would be as there was only a scene, being there the location, but, without the characters, there wouldn't be an action performed.
A character varies, depending from the author or directors point of view. In films, a characters carries out a function in the motion picture, being that the reason why it is there. It could be the main character, the best friend, the antagonist, the love interest, the supportive, part of the group, etc.
We must remember only one thing, when creating a story or script: Without a well defined character, there would be no movie.
