Movie Review: Crazy on the Outside

Last week I bought and saw a great movie which is
called Crazy on the Outside and was directed by
Tim Allen who also was the main character named
Tommy. He was an ex-con and stayed in jail during three long years. After that, he goes to the
house of her strange sister(Sigourney Weaver) and learns that during his absence, his grandmother was led to believe that he spent that time in France, which was a lie invented by his sister. Because of his time in jail he had to see a probational officer, which was played by Jeanne Tripplehorn. Wanting to re-open his father painting business, Tommy has to prove to Angela that he is different and that he is willing to change. After some time working in a fast food restaurant, he shows her that he is really different and she starts to fall in love with him(also with the help of her son, who liked Tommy). Everything was perfect until Tommy found Chrsity, which was his ex-lover and believed dead(also because of a lie of her sister)
During the process of the film we find very funny moments and at the same time very human ones. Allen did a great job in directing the movie and in my opinion, he managed pretty well in showing the emotions and tensions from the characters at the right moment. This movie is a must-see and I definitley recommend it. Believe me, you will love it.

Charles Chaplin Biography

Charles Spencer Chaplin was born on April 16 1889 in London, England and died December 25 of 1977 Vevey, Switzerland. He is probably one of the best actors in all film history. Known for his unique mustache, funny walk and cute smile, Charles Chaplin started to act and perform since he was 5 years old in his family business. After a tour he made with his collegues to the USA, he decided to stay there and try to triumph in america. Being his talent instantly seen, during his first year as a movie star he was seen in 35 movies and after a few years started to write, produce, act and direct in his own films. Althought he was married several times and had 11 children, Chaplin was always a favorite and at the end of his career in the USA(which ended because of problems with the FBI, claiming that he was a communist) he left the country and moved to Switzerland, where he died because of natural causes. He also recieved an honorary Academy Award and was knigthed by Queen Elizabeth II in 1975.

Movie Review: Crazy Heart

This week I saw the movie Crazy Heart which was directed by Scoot Cooper and the main character was portraid by Jeff Bridges (this movie made him win an oscar and an academy award). He plays the part of Bad Blake, an old country singer who finds it more difficult to be in shows and create records. While he is on a local tour around the U.S we find out that he is an alcoholic and casanova. In a town, his piano player tells him about his niecce, which is a reporter and wants to interview him. That woman is named Jean Craddock and is portraid by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Strangely, they fall in love with each other and during that time, and because he almost lost Jean son, Bad gets inspired and clean (of alcohol) and starts to create songs for a young and famous country singer. The movie ends with Bad Blake happy and with money and Jean is engaged with someone else, both taking their own way.
The movie was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and because of its influence of country the clothing and talking was influenced by that cultural tendency, gaving the characters really believing portrays and characteristics to them. In the concerts, the director chose to focus more the band than the audience, making the people see the power and energy that bad had, with also the struggles and problems he had to face while singing in front of an audience which adored him and his songs. His problem with alcohol made him see more human and vulnerable even thought he was a ladies man he fell truly in love and was sad when Jean left him. Really a good movie, which centers in the evolution of the character and its music and shows us that life has different ways of bringing happiness and that it doesnt always come in the way we want it.

Movie Review: Libeled Lady

This movie is from the year 1936 and its stars are William Powell, Myrna Loy, Spencer Tracy and Jean Harlow. It has one nomination for the Oscar as best picture.
The Libeled Lady is about a man(Spencer Tracy) that works in a newspaper company that invented a story about a romance between a high society woman(Myrna Loy) and a married man. Despite of their efforts to stop production and prevent her from reading the story she does, and with the help of her father they sue the company for enought money to make them go bankrupt. At the same time, Jean Harlow is the fiancee of Spencer Tracy and are supposed to marry on the same day, but because of the situation pospone the marriage. He goes to a friend he had (William Powell) who is known as a ladies man and tells him that if he makes the high society woman fall in love with him, then he will give him a lot of money and ends falling in love of her.
What I love about this movie is that there are 2 strong and leading ladies in the same movie, aka Loy and Harlow, which developed their characters really good, making them as believable as possible. While Loy had to be a little bitchy at the beggining and egocentric, we see her changing as she falls in love and decides to marry Powell, making it a perfect love story between the 2 of them, along with its inside drama. Harlow, on the other hand is the angry but still caring fiancee of Spencer Tracy, who doesnt see what he has in front of him and, in a desperate attempt to get attention, falls in love with Powell and creates a problem with the newlyweds, making this a most want comedy-love story and a must see.
What I also love about the movie is that it is in black and white. In my opinion, I think that black and white movies make the actors in the screen more real and able to make more face gestures which are more believable(because of the lack of effects) another thing is that because all the things that are around the actors in the film are black or grey, the only thing that stands is their faces, which you see white, making it an advantage to them to caputure the attention on the actors, which also represents more charisma from them.
Finally, i definitley reccomend this movie, as you can see really good actors in the same movie and have a laught at the comedic elements that there are.

Persistance of Vision and its change during time

Persistance of vision is a commonly accepted yet controversial theory which states that the human eye always retains images for a fraction of a second. This phenomena is widely believed in film and video to account our ability to percieve a sequence of frames as a continous moving picture, which actually makes sense if we take this theory as correct but, because it has not been proven it was replaced in the 1912 by the apparent movement(an optical illusion), which is the union of beta movement and phi phenomenon
